We're Goin' to Graceland

Well, acutally we already went. To Memphis. We didn't actually make it to Graceland, but I love the Paul Simon song so I had to use it. This last weekend the 3 Joneses made a trip to Memphis for Ted's work. We had a great time, but the weather was cold so we didn't see much. We did go to the National Civil Rights museum which was built surrounding the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was shot. It was a very well done museum with tons of information, artifacts and pictures from the Civil Rights movement.

With our trip this weekend and Nolan's 2 month birthday, I started looking back on the places he has been so far: Missouri (OK, obvious, but still...,) Iowa (for 3 days!), Minnesota, Arkansas and Tennessee. Then I thought about where he was in utero: Chicago with 16 6th graders, Denver, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, New Hamshire, Maine, Vermont, West Virginia, Kentucky, Kansas and even a stint at Girls' Camp for church. That really got me thinking. Ted and I have been married for 3 years this March 12. We have built up quite a list of accomplishments!

  • moving from Alaska to Missouri
  • buying 2 houses
  • selling 1 house
  • 7 jobs (Kristina 2, Ted 5)
  • 6 cars (3 of which were Jeeps!)
  • 7 dogs (long stories...)
  • Driving 800 miles on a dirt road with 6 (yep, each one at least once!) flat tires just to stick our toes in the Arctic Ocean
  • a new baby
  • and a partridge in a pear tree

I can't wait to see what is in store for us next!

2 months old!

Nolan turned 2 months old today. Isn't he so cute?

We went to the doctor this morning for our check-up and shots. Yuck! He had to get 5 shots, 2 in each thigh and one in his arm. I think I shed more tears than he did, though. He also received his first dose of Tylenol about 1 hour after the shots. It is not fun to see your baby in pain. He has grown 1 1/2 inches since birth and is at 23 inches, which is 55%. His weight has only increased 2 pounds to 9lbs. 10oz, which is only at the 10%. We have to go back in a month to check him to be sure he is maintaining his curve.

He has been really fun lately. His newest excitement is his bouncy seat. He had just discovered that he could actually create music. Pretty cute, huh?

Holiday Updates!

We had a wonderful Christmas in Minnesota! For the first time, Nolan met all 5 of his cousins, 2 aunts, 4 uncles and his grandpa. What a great time. The drive up was pretty crazy. My family joked that Iowa was larger than Texas because it took us 3 days to drive through it due to 2 different snow storms! Here was a common sight on our trip~

Nolan's first Christmas was wonderful.

Here are all the cousins! Clockwise from left: Isabel, Connor, Ben, Grace, Nolan and Lucas.

They love their grandparents and great-grandparents, too!

Back at his Jones grandparents, we thought he made a great gift!

Nolan's 6 week birthday was on Jan. 3. He seems to be getting so big!

We had warm temperatures last weekend so Nolan got to get out quite a bit. What do you think of his cozy outfit from grandma Kathy?

Ted also got his first vacation since this summer. He had finals one week after Nolan was born and enjoyed his well-deserved break reading "Harry Potter" (mom's vacation will be coming in 18 years, right?)

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and we wish you a happy new year!
